Plain boiled long-grain Rice


Main ingredients: Long grain or basmati rice, water

Equipment: Saucepan with tight-fitting lid
Matt says: "This is the secret to perfect, fluffy rice that comes out great every time. You can't fail with this 18 minute recipe. Keep the lid on till cooked."

Ingredients

  • One cup long grain or basmati rice
  • One and a quarter cups of water

Recipe

  1. Put rice and water into pan with a well-fitting lid.
  2. Keep the lid on all the time
  3. Bring to the boil
  4. Simmer for 8 minutes
  5. Turn off heat and leave for 8 minutes
  6. Take the lid off, fluff up with a fork and serve
