The abbey flourished for centuries, becoming a place of pilgrimage and learning, as well as a hub of cultural and religious influence in the Jura. The monks of the Abbey contributed significantly to the region’s agricultural development, focusing on the cultivation of vines and various crops.
Over the years, the abbey endured several periods of turmoil, including attacks during the French Revolution, when many monastic buildings were destroyed. Despite these hardships, the abbey’s remnants still stand today as a testament to the resilience of this historic site. Visitors can still admire the impressive architecture and the serene surroundings of the abbey, which are steeped in history.
